I thought I would start writing about some of the things I experience as a Dream Chaser, entrepreneur, idea man, world traveler etc. to help other like minded people on their journey towards the life of their dreams. Bare with me, I am know to go off on a tangent. So, many Dream Chasers, just like me have the ability to take an idea that they come up with in their minds and make it reality. We spend days and long nights up making the right connections, writing, planning and developing our dreams until one day...there it is! My latest endeavor was to create my own ice cream called The Dream Hero. I had a meeting with the ice cream maker, we came up with an idea for the product. I met with my graphic designer, we designed the package. I contacted the label maker, they gave us the specs to make the package. My designer and I agreed on a package, we sent it to the package maker back and forth for months but there was always a problem. We came up with a new design and followed the directions for design to the letter, we paid the invoice and a month later, we had our package. I met with the ice cream maker again and he packaged my ice cream in my package. At that point, I had my product. The product is good (both taste and packaging)! I actually created an ice cream brand. Dream Chaser #1 does it again...right? No, Not right. What's next? I have to sell The Dream Hero. I have to market The Dream Hero. I have to advertise the Dream Hero. These are not things that get me jazzed up. These are not things that get the dream energy up but in order to really achieve my dream, I have to go to another level. You see, the Creation Phase has always been my favorite part of Dream Chasing. I have written books, I have created products and programs all my life, staying up late tolling over ideas, not being able to sleep because I am so engulfed with my work. However, after I create, the next phase of development is even more important because if I do not succeed in selling my fully formed idea, it just falls to the side and another idea takes its place. I bet you have also experienced this dilemma. When I think about my dream, I feel like "this is the one"! I feel like I am going to be a millionaire but then, I have to start selling the idea. Then, I have to be told "no" and rejected. I don't like this phase. Let's call it the Sell or Fail phase. I wonder how many great ideas have been put to the side for other dreams because other Dream Chasers failed to sale. So, what am I going to do about it, you may ask? I am going to double down! I have failed so many times when I made it to this point. I have literally written 8 books but never sold over 1,000 of any of them or all combined. I have created a product called the "Terri" (a du-rag made out of terri cloth that could be used as a towel). I produce a t-shirt line every summer and usually order a few hundred shirts and end up giving them away. No more failing for me! I will sell the Dream Hero! I will get my second and third flavors. I will not fail. I am going to SALE, SALE, SALE! Stay tuned. You can buy a Dream Hero at Tru Books in Hartford, CT. I will be out with my cart in the coming weeks.
