Never Stop Dreaming! Got a text from my friend, Lance Growth and he told me to check facebook for a surprise. Here is the result. Enjoy. Never Stop Dreaming! I don't know why people limit their dreams. Some won't even allow themselves to dream. When they hear the word DREAM they laugh it off like the word has no power or significance. As if dreams and dreaming have no purpose in their life. These people value the power of their dreams so little that when asked about their dreams, they will say anything. Allow me to correct myself, they will say a sport or a career they are not educationally even trying to do but when asked about other dreams, they draw a blank. A blank on dreams? A blank on what you will do with your life? A blank on your aspirations? A blank on all the possibilities you can create? My wife tells me my assessment of people is unfair due to the fact that I travel in the dream world all the time. She says I can't expect normal people to have a response to their dreams immediately because they are not thinking about them. I disagree. Why aren't they thinking about their dreams? Why aren't you thinking about your dreams?
It is my belief that everyone should spend some time each day thinking about their life and their dreams. I believe that everyday individuals should talk about or speak out loud their dreams for the future, whether the dreams are big or small, difficult or easy, repetitious or singular. Our dreams are the wants and desires we don't have. Our dreams are the destinations we haven't traveled to or those we love and want to return to. Our dreams are the goals we have educationally, for our family and for our health. Our dreams are the adventures we feel we must take on to fill the spirit of adventure within us. I believe that our dreams are what direct our lives and without dreams we have no direction and usually remain stuck. We have to be able to visualize it before we get it. We need dreams. We need to write our dreams down and fall in love with them. We need to spend time figuring out how to make them real. Most importantly, we should be dreaming BIGGER than BIG. Why not? If you are willing to put in the work, all your dreams are possible. ALL YOUR DREAMS ARE POSSIBLE. So, what are you waiting for? Never Stop Dreaming! Today, I had a great time at The Man Up Conference. I brought in eight speakers to talk on various topics ranging from Goal Setting and Character Building to putting the HU in MAN. Many POWERFUL words were shared today and I believe the young men left the conference with new knowledge and a renewed focus. I look forward to the next conference and the Job Corps Tour we are planning. Stay tuned. Never Stop Dreaming! About a month ago, I was doing Ice Cream for a Dream at Martin Luther King School in Hartford, CT. So, the kids are sharing their dreams..."I want to be a doctor", "I want to be a basketball player", "I want to be a nurse." Then, a little boy comes up and he says, "I want to be a better reader." This dream immediately caught my attention and I responded to the boy by stating, "If you want to be a better reader, I have written a children's book and I will bring you a copy." I later told his teacher that I would be bring a few copies of my book "The 7 Secrets of Super Heroes" and read it to her class the following week. So, the next week, I showed up to the class and read the book and gave all the students books. Then, I decided to go back the next week and read them my book "The New Bird" and I did. Then, I decided to bring them and read them my coloring book "My Dad's a Black Super Hero". Finally, this week, I returned to read them one of my favorite stories of all time, Where the Wild Things are". Next year, I will continue with Ms. Springer's class and follow the other students to the third grade. Today, the class surprised me with a copy of their year book. It was all a dream but I hope in the future it will be much more. Shout Out to Ayman for having such a wonderful dream. Now get to reading.
Never Stop Dreaming! I had a great time today with the kids from the Generations Program. I even took them for a ride in my truck and I never do that. They had some pretty good dreams and they tagged up my truck something fierce. It's all good. Their dreams were great! Tomorrow we will be at East Hartford High and Global Communications giving out over 1,000 ice creams for dreams. I could probably use some help. Hit me up early and I'll get you a t-shirt. Never Stop Dreaming! What if when you spoke your dream out loud you set into motion all the things that will happen to make your dream come true. What if by responding to the simple question, "What is your dream?" you gave your dream strength to become. What if you wasted the opportunity? What if you said a dream that you really didn't want, a dream you really didn't desire that really wasn't yours but you got stuck with it? What if you were trying to be funny when speaking your dreams out loud shouldn't be funny? What if you were trying to be cool for your friends and you missed the chance of a life time and you just said anything? What if you missed the chance to bring life to your dream? What if...?
Words have POWER. Dreams spoken from your heart to your mind with conviction can be made real. Sometimes jokes slip through, become dreams and YOU become a joke. Dreams are not a joke. Dreams are no joke. Every time someone ask you your dream take it seriously. You never know what kind of magical power is possessed by those listening. You never know what someone else is inspired by or is willing to do. Today, I did Ice Cream for a Dream at a local middle/high school. 80% of the dreams were pretty good. 10% of the dreams were AWESOME! The other 10% had me write this post. That's because 'm sensitive. That's because I believe that everyone should have BIG dreams and take their dreams serious. That's because I feel like someone should talk to young people about their dreams as often as possible. I could go on, (I'm in full rant mode) but I won't. Be Powered by Dreams. Words have POWER. Never Stop Dreaming! You say you want it. So, why don't you go get it? You are always thinking about it. So, why don't you pursue it? I don't think you want it. When you want something, like really want something, you don't allow yourself to only desire it you have to go get it. You have to SEIZE IT!
Seize: Verb : to use legal or official power to take (something) : to get or take (something) in a forceful, sudden, or violent way : to attack and take control of (a place) by force or violence You have to control of your dreams like you are in a battle with them because if you don't they will get away. Dreams don't wait. Dreams don't care if you are scared or nervous, or unready, or unprepared. Dreams come into your mind and say, "Come and get me if you have enough heart" and you have to decide what you are going to do. What are you going to do? Never Stop Dreaming! I had a good time today at the Puerto Rican Day Parade in Hartford, CT. I'm not really one to go to a parade because I don't like standing around in a large crowd looking at floats, however, today I found out that I actually love being in a parade. It didn't hurt to have an ice cream truck full of ice cream. It didn't hurt to have a street team to hand the ice cream out and did I mention there was a DJ on the truck blasting all the latest music that the people love? After waiting for around three hours for set up, the parade was off. Up the hill on Wawarame you could see the large crowd and Puerto Rican Flags waving in the air. By the time we hit the corner and started handing out ice cream sandwiches, the ice cream truck was swarmed by hungry ice cream lovers. It was pandemonium! I was concerned that I might run someone over by mistake. Fortunately, after ten minutes, all 700 ice creams were gone and we hadn't even got to Main Street. Whew! The rest of the ride was calm and I was able to see the pride of the Puerto Rican people. Proud of their day. Proud of their flag. Proud to be Puerto Rican. I liked that. I look forward to returning again next year. I didn't get many pictures...I was driving. Never Stop Dreaming! v. verb
As a Dream Chaser you must learn to focus. You must tune all the way into your dream so that the result is as crystal clear as it was when you visualized it in your mind. Do not allow the distractions of other people, other priorities or other dreams to steal away the focus you need to truly make your dream what you wanted it to be when it was conceived in your mind. Take on one major dream at a time. Decide that you will accomplish that dream. Dedicate time to the dream. Create a plan for that dream. Feel positive about that dream. Ask for help on that dream. When that dream is done, move on to another. Each dream needs your attention. The extent to which your focus is required will depend on the dream. Enjoy the journey that your biggest dreams take you on and master the focus you need to succeed. For the Dream Chaser in you...that wants to catch their dreams. Never Stop Dreaming! |
