Last Friday, my son Amir and I pulled out of Hartford with plans to go to Philadelphia to give a speech on "Never Stop Dreaming" and to be a part of the first YUK (Youth's Undeniable Knowledge) Conference. To be honest, I was just going down because I was asked to by my friend Gabe but when I got there, I learned the group of men that came together to form YUK were something to be reckoned with. I watched as they came together to do a walk through the school men treat each other with respect and love. They had special handshakes and did not seem worried about extending their hugs for longer than the normal pat on the back. It was a good feeling to hear them talk and reminisce about their college days at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. As we put together the gift bag and ate dinner, I was even more impressed as their wives and children joined in with loving kisses and hugs. When we pulled up to the hotel later that evening, I told Gabe that I believed he had something special with these men and if they stick together, they can change their community.
On Saturday, the conference was great! A good start to what will eventually come. Workshops were done, information was shared and speeches were given. Then there was the ride home. I hate traffic! The next morning, I was up bright and early for the Kidney Walk and Ice Cream for a Dream. Check out the pictures from the weekend. By the way, Philly has some great murals! Never Stop Dreaming! After four years of writing, consulting, editing and gathering inspiration, my friend Karl Koistinen has finally completed and published his book "52". Taking inspiration from the story of Nehemiah's journey of 52 days to repair his communities wall and their relationship with G-D. This is a POWERFUL book! Purchase it on Amazon, search 52, Karl Koistinen. Word on the street is I was in the acknowledgements. :)
Never Stop Dreaming! What a great day we had today at McDonough doing Ice Cream for a Dream. We heard realy inspiring dreams from teachers, students and parents. We also created a new character Ice Cream for a Dream Man. Check out the pictures and videos from our day. Never Stop Dreaming! I met these young men when they were in middle school. Fifteen years later, they have become a major force! Their organization The Brilliant Group will inspire you to find your brilliance and live the life of your dreams. I am proud to know them. Take a few minutes to get to know them as well by watching their video below. Never Stop Dreaming! For the past two weeks, the ice cream truck has been at Masters Auto getting repairs in preparation for the 2015 Ice Cream for a Dream season. Now, it's ready to go, we are looking forward to the many dream chasers we will encounter over the next few months. We will see you out in the community, at schools and other events. What is your dream? I hope you have an amazing answer! Never Stop Dreaming!
On a trip scheduled to visit my daughter at ASU, I had the opportunity to speak to a group of students in a speech titled, "No struggle, No Story" which discussed how the struggles in your life are only temporary and you must continue to fight through them to get to what you truly desire. The students were a mix of Montgomery Job Corps students, and ASU Honor students. It was great to be able to share my story. I must give a huge shout out to my frat brother Brandon McGee Jr. for making to the connections to make this opportunity happen. I feel like other opportunities to inspire others are right around the corner. Excited!
Never Stop Dreaming! Mark this date. Yesterday, April 7, 2015 I may have potentially had one of the biggest meetings for the Dream Support Network to date! I don't like to count my eggs before they hatch but...there were a lot of eggs (if you know what I mean). Let's see how this whole thing plays out.
Never Stop Dreaming! Had a great time at Arts in the City with my soon to be famous friend, Crystal Senter-Brown and the talented kids from one of the local dance studios and the Boss Baby Models. As always, we heard many powerful dreams and we look forward to future collaborations with Crystal and the Springfield community. Never Stop Dreaming!
