Today, Dream Chaser #1 was the host of the Harlem Renaissance: Romare Bearden Event. There was awesome discussion about the two murals he was commissioned to do in the 80's for the XL Center but were stored away for years in a room in the center. After being refurbished, the works of art were hung in the Hartford Public Library for community viewing and enjoyment. Check out a few of the pictures from the day especially the one with legendary artist Joe Sam. By the owning a Joe Sam is on my Dream list. By the way, I received many compliments on my Jus10h blazer. Never Stop Dreaming!
As a part of the Lighthouse Project, Ice Cream for a Dream participated in Family Fun Night at Sarah J. Rawson Elementary School in Hartford, CT. Today, The Dream Support Network returned to Hartford Job Corps to do the Dream Chasers Workshop and Dream Board activity. Overall, the day was powerful! The young men that participated in the workshop were full of energy and eager to learn about the path to their dreams. Check out the video and pictures below to see a small piece of how the day went. At the end of the 2014, we were finally approved for non profit status and over the last few weeks we have started to pull things together so we can begin fundraising and raising awareness of our organization. One of the first and most important things we needed to do was create a logo. After going back and forth for some time, this is what we came up with. Let us know what you think.
Yes, that was the bell. Yes, it's time for class. Let's go, Dream Chasers! Here is your weekly dose of inspiration. Never Stop Dreaming! Yesterday, we had a excellent time at the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Event, Go to high school, go to college. We presented our new and improved "Powered by Dreams Workshop" and the young people did a great job sharing their dreams and participating. At the end we did Ice Cream for a Dream and everybody loves ice cream! Afterwards, my son and I caught a New York Knicks game. They lost. Check out a few pictures from the day.
Never Stop Dreaming! In preparation for the world in desire, I wake up at three o'clock in the morning. My body is fully recharged and my mind tells me that my dreams are "out there". You know, in the waking world not the sleeping world. Often, I lay in my bed thinking over and over about my life, my dreams, how I am going to make them come true. I lay there and I see the barriers, I visualize my response and play scenarios where I succeed over and over. I tell myself, "Be Great, Be Great, Be Great" and try to determine exactly what that would mean for me.I remind myself that once the life I live right now was a dream and I made it here, while at the same time understanding that what I once desired so strongly has changed. I realize, I want it all! Successful and free. Inspirational and normal. Energized and relaxed. I want it all! Security and recklessness. Adventure and consistency. Love and space. I have work to do. I have to crack the code to see what is on the other side again. Each time I get comfortable, another door appears. Time to get to work! Three o'clock in the morning.
Life is but a Dream. Never Stop Dreaming. We are a day late for class, but this week Dream Chasing 101 should really get you up and ready to chase your dreams. Check out Dream Chaser #1 as he discusses Tap in, don't Tap out! This year, The Dream Support Network will be joining The Black Man Can Institute on their nationwide tour to do The Dream Chasers Workshop and Ice Cream for a Dream. This past weekend, we made our first stop in North Carolina and what a POWERFUL day it was for the 75 young men in attendance. Workshops were held all day, the keynote by Rev. Potts encouraged and empowered, ties were given and we heard many great dreams. Additionally, I saw one of my friends from White Plains, NY that I haven't see in like 20 years. Check out www.theblackmancan.org for more information about upcoming dates and locations.
